In most instances elastic compression sleeves and stockings should be removed while sleeping. They should be removed before bed because, while at rest, elastic can roll, thereby creating pressure spots that can disturb the flow of blood and lymph. They should be periodically washed and allowed to fully dry, thereby giving them a chance to restore to full compressive strength.
When to Take Measurements
It is important that the edema is at its most reduced state. Most often this is found first thing in the morning or at the end of treatment.
How to Take Length Measurements
Length measurements should be taken at each circumference. It is recommended that you mark the leg with a non-permanent, non-toxic marker at each circumference measurement made. The length measurement is then taken even with the floor, along the inside of the leg, up to each circumference point.
Jobst Opaque stockings with SoftFit technology feature all the benefits of the Jobst Opaque with the addition of silicone yarn woven into the stocking that gently adheres to the skin. SoftFit is designed to help keep stockings in place, and decrease tension at the top band. These innovations combine to provide a more comfortable and effective stocking.
